Miele to Sponsor Philpott!

December 19, 2006. Doug Philpott Inner City Children’s Tennis Fund is proud to announce a three-year sponsorship agreement with Miele Canada. As exclusive presenting sponsor of the annual Philpott Ladies’ Invitational Tournament and Banquet, Miele will contribute $ 30,000 over a three-year period. The Invitational tournament brings together women who have a passion for tennis and charity with the goal of helping to support access to the sport for inner city children.

The funds will go directly to providing Toronto’s inner city children with tennis instruction during the summer. “We are delighted to take a leadership position with such a valuable grassroots community program,” says Jan Heck, President of Miele Canada. “The Philpott program plays a valuable role in developing the physical and life skills of many of our neediest children.”

“We are extremely grateful for Miele’s involvement with our biggest fundraiser, the Philpott Invitational,” says Coulter Wright, President of Philpott’s Board of Directors. “With their help, we will not only be raising more funds for our children’s camps, but we will be making this an event to remember for the over 250 women from Toronto’s tennis community who play for our cause.”

The annual event alternates between the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, The Toronto Cricket and Skating Club, The Granite Club, The Badminton & Racquet Club and this year’s host, The Boulevard Club. The 2007 event takes place on January 24-26, 2007

The Philpott Children’s Fund, a registered Canadian nonprofit organization, has operated free tennis camps for inner city children for over 15 years. Thanks to the generosity of Toronto’s tennis and corporate communities, Philpott served over 3,500 children at 10 summer camps this year. www.ontariotennis.com/philpottfund
